Find Your PedalSense Feel with Cruise and Torque
A flat path and an extended climb call for different kinds of support. Our PedalSense technology gives you a choice: Cruise provides steady assistance while you pedal, and Torque responds more closely to your effort. Choose either pedal-assist mode, then use Mellow, Standard, or Pedego performance modes to shape how gently or energetically the motor responds. The separate throttle adds another handy option, especially when you are starting from a stop.
Settle into the ride with Cruise
Cruise is a good fit when you want to maintain a comfortable pedaling rhythm with consistent support. Think of a familiar neighborhood loop or an open stretch where you can settle into the scenery. You pedal and choose the pace; the assist gives the ride its steady feel.
Pair Cruise with Mellow for gentle acceleration, Standard for everyday balance, or Pedego for the strongest response. Each performance mode changes the character of that steady support.
Feel more connected to the pedals with Torque
Torque follows how firmly you press the pedals. Push harder on a rise and the system adds support; ease your effort and the response softens. It is an appealing choice for rolling routes and riders who enjoy feeling that connection between their effort and the motor.
Mellow keeps the response gentle while you learn the bike. Standard gives Torque a balanced feel for everyday streets. Pedego delivers its strongest acceleration and assist when you want a livelier ride. Try the same short route in more than one setting to feel the difference.
Make starting from a stop feel easier
The Dynamic Twist Throttle provides progressive power on demand without requiring a pedal stroke, when enabled by the bike’s class configuration. It can help you get moving at a traffic light or on a slight incline and cross a big or busy intersection with ease. Start with a light touch in an open area and get familiar with its response before using it on a busy route.
In Mellow, an enabled Class 2 throttle has a gentler response and a 15 mph limit. In Standard and Pedego, the enabled throttle limit is 20 mph. Pedego gives a stronger response while keeping that same speed limit.

Know how the speeds fit together
Cruise and Torque share the speed limits of the selected performance mode. Mellow pedal assist tops out at 15 mph. Standard and Pedego pedal assist top out at 20 mph in Class 1 or 2, or 28 mph where a participating Pedego dealer has enabled Class 3 and local rules allow it. Our performance-mode article gives a complete breakdown.
Start with the combination that feels comfortable, then explore as you get to know the bike. Your favorite setting may change with the route or your mood, and that flexibility is part of the fun.
