More Than a New Bike: Meet the All-New PedalSense® Electrical System
A new frame can change how an e-bike looks. A new electrical system changes how it thinks, responds, delivers power, and connects every part of the ride.
That is the bigger story behind Pedego’s newest generation of equipped bikes. These are not simply familiar bikes with refreshed styling. Beneath the design is an all-new electronic drive platform and architecture, built from the ground up to maximize performance, efficiency, and reliability. PedalSense® is the rider-facing intelligence at the center of that system.
A complete system, designed to work as one
An e-bike’s ride quality depends on more than a motor or battery specification. The battery, charger, controller, motor, display, wiring, torque-and-cadence sensor, throttle, lights, brake cutoffs, software, and rider interface all have to communicate clearly and consistently.
Pedego’s new architecture was developed as one unified, scalable platform instead of a collection of unrelated parts. That matters because better coordination across the complete electrical system can make power delivery feel smoother, help the system use energy more intentionally, simplify the way the rider interacts with the bike, and create a stronger foundation for long-term reliability and connected features.
On applicable new-generation models, that platform includes a 48V17.4Ah, 835Wh battery; up to a 750-watt U.S. motor or 500-watt Canadian configuration; up to 90 Nm of torque; a bright 3.5-inch color display; new battery technology; improved lighting; and integration with the Pedego Ride app. Depending on the model and configuration, listed range reaches up to 90 miles. Specifications and available features vary by model and market, but the design philosophy remains the same: every component should contribute to a more confident, intuitive ride.
PedalSense® is where the system meets the rider

PedalSense® combines sensor input, controller logic, rider-selected settings, and motor response. The system continuously fine-tunes power delivery in real time, helping the bike respond in a way that feels natural, predictable, and distinctly Pedego.
An integrated torque-and-cadence sensor can read both pedal movement and rider effort. PedalSense® interprets that information and coordinates the motor’s response according to the selected assist and performance settings. You are still steering, balancing, braking, choosing the route, and deciding how much effort to contribute. The technology’s job is to make the support feel smooth and useful around those choices.
For new riders, this means the test ride is about more than motor power. For longtime Pedego owners, it means the newest equipped bikes may feel meaningfully different even before the new display, lighting, or frame details enter the conversation.
Designed around what riders ask for
Customers consistently want an e-bike to feel predictable, easy to understand, and flexible enough for the rides they actually take. They want smooth support for a relaxed cruise, confident help for starts and hills, useful assistance when wind or terrain changes, practical range, and controls that do not get in the way of the fun. They also want reliability and local support they can count on after the purchase.
PedalSense® addresses those needs as a complete experience. Cruise and Torque pedal-assist modes let riders choose between steadier support and a response tied more closely to their own effort. The separate Dynamic Twist Throttle adds progressive power on demand, while the curated Mellow, Standard, and Pedego performance modes let equipped bikes adapt from gentle and confidence-building to spirited and fun. Because the sensors, controller, motor, battery, display, lighting, software, and app connection were designed as one platform, the system can deliver that flexibility with a more intuitive, coordinated feel.
Three ways to bring power into the ride
PedalSense® gives riders flexible ways to choose how electrical support enters the experience.
-
Cruise Assist is designed to provide smooth, consistent support while you pedal. It can be a natural match for relaxed neighborhood rides, steady commuter stretches, or any route where settling into an easy rhythm matters.
-
Torque Assist responds more directly to the effort you put into the pedals. Press harder and the system can provide more support; ease off and the response can soften. That can feel especially intuitive on hills, during starts, or across changing terrain.
-
Dynamic Twist Throttle is a separate control that delivers progressive power on demand. It can help with a controlled start, an incline, or a moment when the rider wants assistance without relying on pedal input, subject to the bike’s class configuration and local rules.
Cruise and Torque are two pedal-assist modes; the throttle is a separate rider control. Together, they give customers more freedom to choose the response that fits the route, the moment, and the way they want to ride.
Three curated performance modes
On equipped models with the full performance package, PedalSense® adds three curated performance modes—Mellow, Standard, and Pedego—that shape the overall character of power delivery.
-
Mellow emphasizes a gentler, more gradual response for riders who want to ease into the experience or keep the ride especially smooth.
-
Standard provides a balanced everyday calibration for a wide mix of routes and riding styles.
-
Pedego delivers the system’s most spirited signature response for riders who want maximum fun and performance from the available configuration.
Think of the assist selection as choosing how PedalSense® listens to you, while the performance mode helps choose the personality of the response. A rider can explore those settings to find a combination that feels comfortable and confidence-inspiring. Mode availability varies by model; some equipped bikes offer a different display or performance-mode set.
Built for performance, efficiency, and reliability
Performance is the part riders feel first: smooth acceleration, confident hill support, and motor response that matches the selected settings. Efficiency is the system’s ability to coordinate power instead of treating every component as an island. Reliability begins with designing the electrical architecture, communication protocol, controls, battery, motor, lighting, and safety interfaces to work together from the start.
The new platform also creates a foundation for smarter ownership. The Pedego Ride app can bring compatible-bike information, user guides, over-the-air updates, trip tracking, and ride statistics into a connected experience, with exact functionality depending on bike compatibility, app version, device, and market.
This system-level approach is why the technology story is bigger than a new motor rating. The display, controls, sensors, throttle, lighting, battery, software, and app connection are all parts of the same experience.
The best explanation is a test ride

Before riding, ask the dealer to identify the available PedalSense® assist settings, performance modes, display indicators, and throttle behavior on that exact bike. Start in a lower setting in a clear area. Practice starting, easing off the pedals, braking, changing settings, and making a gentle turn.
Then compare Cruise and Torque Assist on the same stretch. Try the available Mellow, Standard, and Pedego performance modes at an appropriate speed and notice how each changes the character of the response. Use the throttle only after the dealer has explained its operation and the route is clear.
The right setting is the one that helps you feel comfortable, attentive, and in control. PedalSense® gives you the flexibility to find it—and the new electrical platform gives every part of the bike a better foundation for delivering it.
