Locally-Owned Electric Bike Shop Opens Doors to Community; Inspires Connection And Celebrates Outdoor Activity
GREENVILLE, S.C.—May 4, 2021—Pedego Electric Bikes, a leading electric bike brand, is now open in Greenville at 1320 Hampton Ave. Ext. Bay 11A in Hampton Station. Local store owners Laurel Zimmerman and Ashby Knox will host a community event and ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 4, from 3 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the occasion.
“We’re thrilled to open the first Pedego Electric Bikes in Greenville,” said Knox. “Pedego encourages adventure and connection, which matches the spirit of our city. We’re eager to open our doors and to watch our Pedego community grow..”
The event will feature Pedego test rides, giveaways, refreshments, a meet and greet with the local owners and Pedego Director of Business Development Cynthia Newcomb and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
There will also be a raffle for the chance to win a Pedego Electric Bike, and all proceeds will benefit Upstate Food Not Bombs, a local community collective that believes that food is a right, not a privilege. They are known for helping anyone in the community with no strings attached.
“We love Greenville because it’s a vibrant city with a smaller town feel,” said Knox. “There is art all around the city and city developers have a commitment to preserve greenspace. Because of the thoughtful growth mixed with hometown hospitality and a strong bike community, Greenville is a perfect place for a Pedego community.”
“We chose to open a Pedego store because we love enjoying the outdoors, specifically enjoying the outdoors on e-bikes,” said Zimmerman. “While investigating different e-bike brands it became clear that Pedego produces the highest quality products, is sincerely invested in top notch customer service and provides exceptional support for their local dealers. It was a no-brainer decision!”
Zimmerman spent 13 years working for Outward Bound, and Knox worked as a registered nurse for over 13 years before the business partners decided to open Pedego Greenville.
“At Pedego, we’re committed to inspiring connection and adventure within each of our communities,” said Cynthia Newcomb, Director of Business Development at Pedego. “We’re a people-oriented, fun-focused company, which is why Greenville is the perfect addition to our Pedego family. We look forward to not only providing Greenville with the best e-bikes in the world, but also cultivating a community that brings out the best in each other.”
Don DiCostanzo founded Pedego Electric Bikes in 2008 out of a desire to combine quality and style in the e-bike category. Pedego Greenville joins the over 160 locally-owned Pedego stores throughout the U.S.
