Local Electric Bike Shop Hosts Group Bike Ride And Community Event, Inspires Connection And Outdoor Activity

NORFOLK, Va. — May 1, 2021— As part of its nationwide “Hello Fun Tour,” Pedego Electric Bikes Norfolk is hosting a Pedego Palooza event for Pedego Bike Owners at 223 E. City Hall Ave. The event will feature a group Pedego ride and fundraiser for a local charity on Saturday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants in the group ride will meet at the storefront at 11 a.m. before departing at 12:30 p.m. The route will proceed towards Town Point Park to The Big Wisky Porch for lunch, drinks and a view of the Battleship Wisconsin. The ride will continue for eight miles before returning to the Pedego Norfolk store. Pedego Vice President of Marketing Cassidy Castleman will also be in attendance.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to donate to the Nauticus Maritime Museum Foundation, whose mission is to benefit the community through education, impactful experiences and by sharing access to maritime resources.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our Pedego community with this Palooza event,” said Amy Oliver, owner of Pedego Norfolk. “Norfolk has really embraced the Pedego spirit, and we’re excited to see our local e-bike community continue to grow. The excitement and wonderful experience of riding a Pedego is a game changer for many Baby Boomers that maybe haven’t ridden a bike in 15, 20 or even more than 30 years. We are honored to offer this Pedego Palooza experience to our local Pedego Bike Owners.”

“Norfolk is the perfect place for Pedego,” Amy Oliver continued. “The city has invested heavily in biking infrastructure with the development of a 10.5 mile trail, new bike lanes and safe areas to ride. Not to mention, downtown Norfolk is a great area to bike around and enjoy the waterfront views, beautiful architecture, historic sites, eclectic shops and dozens of bars and restaurants.”

“We rented Pedego Electric Bikes in Tiburon, California and we loved them,” said Amy Oliver. “We immediately wanted to find out how to open a store in Virginia.”

This event is one stop of many on Pedego’s 2021 Hello Fun Tour. With stops in more than 80 communities nationwide that are home to authorized Pedego dealer stores, the Hello Fun Tour will highlight more than 40 new store openings, adding to the brand’s footprint of over 160 locally-owned locations.

“The Hello Fun Tour is the highlight of our year at Pedego,” said Pedego CEO, Don DiCostanzo. “We love the opportunity to celebrate our cities and communities. This tour is a unique way for us to show our appreciation and to surprise and delight our store owners and customers. Pedego is all about community, connecting with others and enjoying exercise, and the Palooza events embody just that.”

Founded in 2008, Pedego was created to be the best brand of electric bikes, not necessarily the largest. Don DiCostanzo founded Pedego out of a desire to combine quality and style in the e-bike category. Thus, Pedego’s premium, quality bikes were born.
