Pedego Kansas City electrifies riders who get behind the handlebars
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., September 10, 2020 — A new Pedego® Electric Bikes store recently opened in Kansas City. Pedego Kansas City owner Dan Cain is excited to offer rentals, sales, tours and service of the country’s No. 1 electric bike brand. A grand opening is planned for Oct. 9 to Oct. 18, with free giveaways. The store also offers free test rides.
Longtime healthcare industry exec shares joys, health benefits of e-cycling
Dan Cain already recognized the health perks of exercise as an avid runner and cyclist, but when he took his first ride on a Pedego electric model, he saw new vistas open for working out and having fun at the same time.
Now he owns his own recently opened Pedego store, in the Waldo-Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, where he’s extolling the virtues of electric cycling to a receptive audience. It’s in the former Family Bicycles location and boasts bike retail veteran Bruce Homstad as manager.
Pedego Kansas City sits along the Henry Wiggins Trolley Track Trail, which takes riders past The Country Club Plaza, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Brookside retail, and Waldo’s unique collection of shops, restaurants and breweries, sampling the flavors of Kansas City along the way, and connecting them to other trails.
Cain opened his first location last year in Columbia, Mo., and Pedego Kansas City is now linked by the Katy and Rock Island trails, the longest developed rails-to-trails routes in any state! The KC store will be the trailhead for cyclists, pedestrians and runners who want to experience world-class amenities in the bed and breakfasts, restaurants, vineyards, breweries and distilleries that lay along the connected routes between Kansas City, Columbia, and St. Louis. Just west of Kansas City are the Kansas Flint Hills, offering an additional unique “touring vista” experience.
Pedego is the perfect vehicle to explore it all, says Cain, who’s already seen people pedaling Pedegos along trails, streets and parks throughout this corner of town.
“The versatility and the customization of the ride” are what sold him on Pedego — “the customized level of how you can interact with the bike. I was pleasantly surprised,” says the 30-year Kansas City resident.
Those features take what can sometimes be a chore and turn it into a joy ride with health benefits, says Cain, who personally rides the Boomerang and Interceptor models.
“You can kind of cross-train, and it makes you want to ride more often and further. This will open the door for a lot of people who don’t normally ride, or want to ride and haven’t been able to.”
Cain, who builds networks for managed-care health plans, has owned restaurant and medical-billing businesses. He says Pedego spoke to him because “it’s about making your customers happy. I educate and open eyes about the opportunities these bikes can provide in making your life better.”
Pedego Kansas City offers guided historic, beverage, mob history, and art and architecture tours through the City of Fountains, as well as coordinates app-guided tours. Kansas City has a wealth of trails to explore, from urban bike lanes to mountain and off-road paths through the Ozarks and past trout-fishing streams. Cycling is also part of the light-rail initiative that’s underway in the city.
