Supporting Wells of Life, Pedego’s commitment to community extends globally

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., May 22, 2018 — Two rural Ugandan villages will benefit from much-needed fresh water wells that were drilled in record time, thanks to the financial support of Pedego® Electric Bikes. Living up to its corporate values that include a strong commitment to community, Pedego has provided financial and event support to Wells of Life, a non-profit that drills fresh water wells in rural Ugandan villages.

To celebrate Earth Day 2018, on April 22, Pedego supported the Wells of Life “Run4Water” event by donating $12,000 to build two wells. Pedego co-founder and CFO Terry Sherry; his daughter Ashley Sherry, Pedego’s Director of Operations; and other Pedego employees took part in the event raising an additional $500 in support of the walk/run. Pedego also donated a Pedego Comfort Cruiser electric bike for the event’s raffle.

“Pedego was instrumental to the success of this year’s Run4Water,” said Operations Manager and Race Coordinator Michael Olson. “With their help, the event raised funds for 40 wells which will give water to 40,000 who currently lack this basic resource.”

Pedego also donated $5,000 this year, becoming a Silver Sponsor for Wells of Life. In total, Pedego supported Wells of Life with donations of $18,750, assuring that more people in Uganda will have clean, fresh water. This is the second year that Pedego has supported Wells of Life.

“We appreciate the support from Pedego Electric Bikes, a company with a strong commitment to help community causes near and far,” said Wells of Life Founder and Executive Director Nick Jordan. “Pedego has been a generous supporter of Wells of Life for two years and has now taken part in our Run4Water event, the largest NGO fundraiser in Orange County bringing water to more than 100,000 people so far.”

“It has been our pleasure to support Wells of Life,” said Pedego Electric Bikes CFO and Co-founder Terry Sherry. “This organization provides a unique opportunity to help people in dire need of a basic life necessity, and we are proud to be able to contribute to this worthy cause.”
