FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 13, 2019 — New Pedego® Windmills electric bike tour takes riders on the first-ever bike ride to view the iconic windmills of the Coachella Valley Wind Farms.  Located minutes from downtown Palm Springs, the Pedego Palm Springs electric bike store is housed in a re-purposed off-the-grid shipping container that uses rooftop solar panels to recharge the bikes’ batteries.

The new Pedego Windmills Tour is energizing riders with fun.

“Riding Pedego electric bikes on paved paths alongside the windmills allows riders to cruise comfortably as they take in the sights. The bikes are powered by renewable energy as their batteries are recharged using the store’s off-the-grid solar panels, making this one of the most eco-conscious tours in the country,” said Pedego Palm Springs store owner Bryan Newman, who also owns the Pedego La Quinta store.

On the guided tour, riders view the wind turbines, some of which soar higher than 440 feet (about 44 stories tall) with blades that have a wingspan of 344 feet. More than 2,000 turbines cover about six square miles, creating a visual spectacle along the Interstate 10 freeway in the San Gorgonio pass. The first commercial wind farm in the United States, the wind turbines were installed in 1982 by Wintec Energy. Today, they provide power for hundreds of thousands of homes per day. Each Pedego Windmill Tour is 90–120 minutes and provides plenty of photo opportunities. The cost is $89 per person. Advance reservations are required, and custom tours are also available. To book an electric bike tour, contact the store at 760-537-7603 or www.PedegoPS.com. A motor coach tour is also available from Palm Springs Windmill Tours, which is the only behind-the-fence wind farm tour endorsed by the Desert Wind Farm Energy Association. It is booked separately. Tour participants will enjoy conquering hills and headwinds on powerful electric bikes from Pedego Electric Bikes, the nation’s Number 1 electric bike brand. Pedal or not, riders will enjoy zooming like the wind on Pedego electric bikes that boast a twist-and-go throttle and PedalAssist that helps riders pedal. Trailers are available for families with small children. Accessible Pedego bikes models are also available.

Pedego Palm Springs also offers a Celebrity Grand Tour, which takes riders through the Movie Colony, Las Palmas and Racquet Club Estates. Its Indian Canyon Tour takes riders along the San Jacinto Mountain range to the Indian Canyons and includes a ranger-led 2.5-mile hike on one of the region’s most scenic trails.

“The Palm Springs windmills are fascinating, and cruising alongside them makes an amazing bike tour that will take your breath away,” said Pedego Electric Bikes CEO and co-founder Don DiCostanzo.
