House Bill 4781 (H-2): Electric Bicycles Trail Use

We need your help! House Bill 4781 – Electric Bicycles Trail Use has been passed in both the House and Senate and is currently in the hands of Governor Rick Snyder. If it passes, Class 2 Electric Bicycles will be permitted on trails ONLY if authorized by local authority or State agency.

The bill states that Class 1 Electric Bikes will be permitted on trails but class 2 will need authorization. What’s the difference between a Class 1 and Class 2 Electric Bike? Essentially, the difference is Class 1 electric bikes are Pedal Assist only, while Class 2 has Throttle function and may also have pedal assist. All of our Pedego electric bike models classify as Class 2.
