54-Year-Old Canadian Man Arrived in Bend on Sunday, September 11 After Embarking on 1,553-mile Electric Bike Ride from British Columbia, Canada to Indio, California

Jon is available for interviews today, September 12

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 12, 2016 — Jon Langille, age 54, has embarked on a 1,553-mile electric bike ride from his hometown of Nelson, B.C., Canada, to Indio, Calif., to attend the Desert Trip concert featuring the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and The Who. The ride will take more than a month, with Langille arriving on October 7 to meet his wife and attend the concert. He left British Columbia on September 5.

Jon arrived in Bend on Sunday, September 11 and was greeted by the Pedego Bend Store located at 25 NW Minnesota Avenue #6 Bend, Ore., 97701. Jon’s fans and friends were there to celebrate his journey and provide him support upon his arrival in Bend.

“At 54 years old, I never thought it would be possible for me to do another long-distance bicycle ride,” Langille said. “With an electric bicycle, it’s not only possible, it will be a great adventure. I will get to travel through four states and meet people along the way as I make my way to Indio for the concert.”

“Jon has traveled more than 500 miles, and we are thrilled to welcome him at his pit stop in Pedego Bend,” said Kevin Rea, Pedego Bend Owner.  “We are proud to support his efforts so he can achieve this exiting goal on his Pedego Stretch Cargo Electric Bike.”

Langille will travel through Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California on his journey. He is an experienced bicyclist who, decades ago, toured Asia, Australia and the United Kingdom by bicycle. His Desert Trip Pedego ride will be his first long-distance ride in more than 30 years and is made possible with an electric bike. He will be riding a Pedego Stretch cargo electric bike, which offers Pedego’s PedalSense™ technology to help him pedal when needed. The bike also includes a throttle for instant speed. The bike goes up to 20 miles per hour. He expects to travel an average of 62 miles per day and will recharge the bike’s 48volt battery each night.

Starting in British Columbia, Langille plans to visit these cities along his route:

“Long-distance rides are enjoyable on a Pedego electric bike, and we applaud Jon’s quest and encourage other Baby Boomers to create their own Pedego adventures,” said Don DiCostanzo, CEO of Pedego Electric Bikes, the Number 1 electric bike brand sold in the United States, according to a new report from Navigant Research. Pedego was founded in 2008 by Don DiCostanzo, CEO, 59, and Terry Sherry, 60, two best friends who loved cycling but hated hills.

Mike Clyde, owner of Pedego Canada, is supplying extra batteries, maintenance supplies, and support for Langille’s trip. Clyde said, “This is the first time a Pedego Stretch Cargo electric bike will be ridden from Canada to the Southern United States. We’re very excited to see the bike put through its paces and applaud Jon for taking on a journey of this magnitude.”
